We made it to Guangzhou. Here, we will do a medical exam and we have to finish things up with the U.S. Consulate. We'll get Ruthey's visa to enter America. Once we land in America, she will be an American!! Yesterday we received her passport from China. Pictures of Ruthey and her passport will be posted. Guangzhou is like a resort area. It's incredible. Much different than the rest of the areas we've been visited in China. There is a Starbucks here. We had Subway for lunch. Several people had told us about Lucy's, a westernized restaruant, so we thought we'd try it. Well... we ate there last night and tonight. Last night we all had cheeseburgers and fries. Thanks Rebecca and Emily for telling us about Lucy's.
There are Americans all over our hotel. Lots of families adopting. We've met some wonderful people from all over the U.S.
Today was Ruthey's medical exam. She had to have three shots! Lots of tears. The doctor said she is very healthy. Praise God!
I'm posting pictures of the day today. Except for the shots, we had a wonderful day and lots of fun, as you'll see in the pictures.
One thing I've forgotten to share over the past week... Kailey and Brady absolutely love the gourmet desserts. They love that they can have these incredible desserts for about $3.00 each. I think they trade off daily on who pays. They both brought money for the trip and this has been a highlight for them. I think they are getting a little spoiled .:) I'm so gald they are enjoying this trip and they have both been such a big help. Having them here with us is truly a blessing.
Ruthey is changing so much everyday. She mimicks everything we do. I'll blow with my mouth and tongue and she'll do it right back at me. Precious!!! Then... I've taught her patty cake and she tries to do it with me. Kailey and Brady are teaching her all kinds of things. She'll be speaking English and running before we know it. It's amazing to see the progress she is making. She even rolled over yesterday! I know that doesn't sound like a big deal for an almost 12 month old; however, she's been strapped to her bed and wasn't able for 11 1/2 months. Now... she has freedom to move and it is great to see her realizing this freedom. Her legs do not have much strength in them, but we are working on that. I just know she'll be pulling up very soon. She's a determined little girl. I know that's why she's doing as well as she has been. She's a fighter. ;) I pray God uses that for HIS glory in her life. I just know HE has great plans for this precious child.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for wholeness and not for eveil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
One more giant step closer to home! So glad to hear about Ruthey's progress and how much you are all enjoying each other. Hope your time in Guangzhou flies by and you're soon on your way home!!

If Kailey and Brady want some awesome desserts there is a awesome bakery just out the back door of the White Swan. If you go out the back and turn to the left it is actually in the same building and I think it is actually owned by the White Swan.
ReplyDeleteA family that we met while in China son that they adopted had turned 6 months before and the orphanage didn't tell him. They said that they thought the family might want to celebrate it with him....so sad. Needless to say they ordered his cake from there and then another night we all got together after dinner went there to pick up deserts for everyone. We then went into the Red coach area downstairs at the White Swan outside the playroom and enjoyed our deserts....they were so yummy.
